POSITION SUMMARY

Charlotte Brody is seeking an Associate Designer who will bring innovation and creativity to the team. It is important this person has knowledge of knit development experience creating mood boards, flats, sketches and the energy and a desire to help Charlotte Brody's fashions to the future while maintaining the integrity of the brand’s past. Job Responsibilities:

  • Create seasonal mood boards with guidance from Creative Director and Designer.
  • Propose season color stories.
  • Create flats and techpacks of items confirmed to go into the design process.
  • Manage design calendar; monitor that all deadlines are being adhered to.
  • Take fit notes.
  • Create photo shoot excel.
  • Create Fabric Line lists and other excels needed for the design, production to sales process.
  • Executing the design related portion of seasonal look book and line sheet.
  • Orchestrate fabric and trims for development and ready to wear and MTO production.
  • Production assistance support and quality control as needed.
  • Enter essential data into production/design program.

Qualifications:

Job Requirements:

  • A Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Fashion Design, or a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Apparel Design degree is required.
  • At least 2-5 years of fashion design experience.
  • Experience with solid internships, portfolio development, and opportunities to participate in fashion shows or industry events is a definite plus.
  • Experience supporting a small business or start-up a plus.
  • A keen sense of style, staying updated with fashion trends, and proficiency in design software like Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and CAD for fashion are also essential.
  • Advanced Microsoft Suite to include Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint skills are essential.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to manage and oversee several deliverables simultaneously.
  • Self-managed and can independently establish appropriate timelines and priorities.
  • Detailed oriented with exceptional follow through and follow up skills.
  • Ability to sketch and create hand drawn illustrations as well as the ability to create computerized flats.
  • Intimate overall understanding of patternmaking.
  • Knowledge of both knitwear/woven design and manufacturing concepts.
  • Exceptional attention to detail where nothing goes unnoticed.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with respect, courtesy, and civility in all interactions. Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
  • Thoughtful and thorough - can answer questions and develop trust that leads to organizational success.
  • Flexible and solid work ethic.
  • Sound decision-making and independent judgment.
  • Sophisticated style with a finger on the pulse of fashion trends.
  • Charlotte Brody is a small team and each team member shall have a team spirit and assist others as needed.

Compensation:

$55-85k annually, plus benefits
